Screening Tests

Prenatal screening tests calculate the risks of certain birth defects or other complications occurring in a pregnancy, but they cannot diagnose or rule out a problem with certainty. Screening tests pose no risk to the pregnancy and are available to all pregnant women. Women who receive abnormal screening results are offered the option of diagnostic testing.
